The Entrust Sigma DS2 is a Direct-to-Card card printer designed for fast and secure ID card issuance. The model is suitable for companies, institutions, receptions, educational institutions and other organizations that need card customization for access, identification and internal administration.
The datasheet confirms the dye sublimation / resin thermal transfer printing technology, 300 dpi resolution and single or dual-sided capability. The platform offers speeds of up to 225 cards per hour for single-sided color ribbon, up to 140 cards per hour for double-sided color ribbon and up to 880 cards per hour for single-sided monochrome printing. The standard configuration includes an input hopper for 125 cards, an output hopper for 25 cards and a reject hopper for 10 cards.
Sigma DS2 is suitable for issuing employee cards, access badges, visitor cards or other credentials used in administrative and commercial flows. Standard connectivity is via USB and Ethernet, and the documentation confirms support for Instant ID as a Service, along with browser support for Chrome, Edge/Internet Explorer and Safari. The platform can be extended with WiFi, magnetic stripe encoding and smart card encoding.
In terms of consumables, the printer supports YMCKT, ymcKT, YMCKT-KT, KT, KTT, ST-KT, YMCKF-KT and YMCKL-KT color ribbons, with different yields depending on the configuration. For monochrome ribbons, the data sheet mentions black, white, blue, red, green, scratch-off, silver matte, gold matte, silver metallic and gold metallic variants. The product benefits from a 36-month warranty and can be integrated into modern card issuing programs, on-premises or cloud-hosted.
