    Zebra MC9450 ultra-rugged mobile terminal with 5G and Wi-Fi 6E

    The Zebra MC9450 mobile terminal is an ultra-rugged industrial computer designed for data collection, barcode scanning and real-time communication in warehouses, logistics centers, factories, ports, freight yards and other large spaces. The model combines Wi-Fi 6E connectivity with access to public and private 5G cellular networks, allowing operators to work even in areas where Wi-Fi infrastructure is not available or does not provide continuous coverage. The Zebra MC9450 continues the MC9000 industrial platform and is recommended for operations carried out both inside buildings and outside. The terminal can maintain access to WMS, ERP and transport management applications in the warehouse, on the ramp, in the logistics yard, at the port or while moving between locations. The platform includes a modern Qualcomm processor, 6 GB RAM, 128 GB Flash memory, replaceable physical keyboards, hot-swap battery and scanning options for codes located near the operator or at distances of more than 30 meters. Standard, freezer and, for certain markets, non-incendive versions for environments with special requirements are available.

    5G connectivity for operations without Wi-Fi coverage

    The main differentiator of the Zebra MC9450 is its 5G cellular connectivity. The terminal can use public or private 5G networks to transmit data between the operator and the company’s systems, reducing reliance on Wi-Fi access points. Cellular connectivity is particularly useful in:

    • logistics yards and vehicle handling areas;
    • loading and unloading ramps;
    • ports and intermodal terminals;
    • warehouses with extensive outdoor areas;
    • distribution centers with multiple buildings;
    • transportation and delivery operations between locations;
    • spaces where installing a complete Wi-Fi infrastructure is difficult;
    • private 5G networks deployed in factories and logistics centers.

    The Zebra MC9450 includes a nano-SIM slot and eSIM support. The two options can be used to connect to different networks, for redundancy, or to separate public and private networks, depending on carrier configuration and company policies. The terminal’s cellular modem is designed for data communications. Push-to-talk, messaging, and collaboration applications can utilize the data connection through compatible software solutions.

    GNSS localization for logistics and transportation yards

    In addition to cellular connectivity, the Zebra MC9450 includes dual-band GNSS location. The terminal is compatible with systems such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS, allowing authorized applications to determine the device’s position in outdoor spaces. GNSS functionality can be used for:

    • identifying the position of operators in logistics yards;
    • location of loading and unloading areas;
    • container and trailer management;
    • confirmation of operations performed at a specific location;
    • tracking processes between buildings;
    • transportation, delivery and collection applications;
    • asset management in ports and cargo terminals.

    Location accuracy depends on satellite visibility, usage environment, software configuration, and enabled location services.

    Wi-Fi 6E for performance inside the warehouse

    When used indoors, the Zebra MC9450 can connect to Wi-Fi 6E networks in the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. 2×2 MU-MIMO technology and fast roaming capabilities help maintain a stable connection while moving between aisles, picking areas, and access points. The 6 GHz band can provide more available spectrum and reduced congestion in compatible infrastructure. This is important in warehouses where many mobile terminals, tablets, printers, scanners, and other wireless devices are in use simultaneously. Wi-Fi connectivity is used for:

    • sending picking orders;
    • real-time stock updates;
    • confirmation of locations and quantities;
    • reception and dispatch of goods;
    • push-to-talk communications;
    • accessing work instructions;
    • data synchronization with WMS and ERP applications.

    The Zebra MC9450 is also backward compatible with previous Wi-Fi generations, so it can be deployed before a full infrastructure upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E.

    Switching between Wi-Fi and cellular network

    By combining Wi-Fi 6E with 5G cellular connectivity, the Zebra MC9450 can support workflows that cross multiple zones. An operator can start an order inside the warehouse, continue scanning on the ramp, and complete the process in the logistics yard without always being dependent on the same WLAN network. Connection policies, network prioritization, and traffic transfer between Wi-Fi and WWAN must be configured by IT based on applications used, active subscriptions, security requirements, and available coverage.

    Performance for complex industrial applications

    The Zebra MC9450 uses the Qualcomm 4490 platform, with a 2.4 GHz octa-core processor, 6 GB RAM and 128 GB Flash memory. The processing power enables simultaneous use of operational applications, communication tools, scanning solutions and device management functions. The terminal can run:

    • WMS and ERP applications;
    • logistics yard management solutions;
    • transportation and shipping applications;

    • scanning codes inside vehicles.

    Zebra SE58 Extended Range Scan Engine

    The SE58 engine with IntelliFocus technology allows reading of codes close to the terminal and labels positioned at distances of more than 30 meters. The effective distance depends on the code size, print resolution, contrast, light and scanning angle. The green laser pointer is easier to see than a typical red aiming point and helps the operator select the correct code on high shelves, containers or pallets located at a distance. The SE58 is recommended for:

    • warehouses with high shelves;
    • logistics yards and outdoor storage areas;
    • remote pallet scanning;
    • identification of containers and trailers;
