The difference between Near-Edge and Flat Head
The Toshiba BV410D uses a Flat Head printhead. In general, Flat Head technology is appreciated for its versatility, cost-effectiveness and very good print quality on a wide range of materials. In comparison, Near-Edge technology is mainly aimed at thermal transfer applications with high speeds, better ribbon efficiency and reduced wear in certain scenarios. For a desktop direct thermal printer like the BV410D, choosing a Flat Head printhead makes sense, as it emphasizes clarity, compatibility and a favorable total cost of ownership.
